Text Box:    The Winston County Yellow Jackets have a long and storied history beginning with the first team in 1927. That year they played the Bankhead Senators (now known as the Cordova Blue Devils) and won by the convincing score of 51 to 0.  Since that time the Yellow Jackets have had 2 Hall of Fame Coaches,  2 State Champion Teams, Several Area and County Championships, numerous All-State players and 1 player go to the NFL.     One interesting note is that the first game held under lights in Double Springs was the second game of the 1947 season against Lawrence County. Although not a win that night, from that point forward during the Fall, you can find the field lit up on certain Friday nights as the Yellow Jackets swarm the competition.
